Applications are now open for the Hungary Scholarship Program 2022/2023. You can now apply online but you need to follow the steps on how to apply for the 2022 Hungary scholarships.
The Scholarship Programme for Christian Young People (SCYP) was founded in 2017 by the Government of Hungary.
The Scholarship Programme for Christian Young People is managed by the State Secretariat for the Aid of Persecuted Christians and for the Hungary Helps Program. The Hungary Helps Agency is in charge of coordinating the Scholarship Programme since August 2020.
The core mission of the Scholarship Programme for Christian Young People is to provide the possibility of studying in Hungary for young Christian students living in the crisis regions of the world.
After completing their studies, the scholarship holders will return to help their home community with their gained knowledge, and they will participate in the reconstruction of war-destroyed countries and contribute to the improvement of social situation and preservation of the culture of Christian communities.
Application Process
Each year from November the Call for Applications is published on our website. Till December applicants have to prepare all application documents and get in touch with the local churches about their Letter of Recommendation.
The deadline for submitting the online application is January 31.
Till the end of March the Hungary Helps Agency reviews the submitted application and the church recommendation, and on the basis of the criteria presented in the Call for Applications, preselects those applications that fulfill the criteria, and are retained for further processing. The applicants are informed on the status of their application.
At the beginning of April, the host institutions start to review the preselected applications.
At the end of May, those applicants will be selected who meet the minimum entry requirements and selected for examination. Those applicants will be informed about the details (date and method) of the examination.
Till the end of June, a decision will be made by the Minister responsible for Higher Education, in Hungary.

From the beginning of July, the applicants will be informed about the final results/selection.
Till 1st August successful applicants are required to accept their scholarship in the online system (if relevant, any missing documents have to be also uploaded) and start the visa application process.
From 1st September the students have to arrive in Hungary.
How to apply to Hungary Scholarship Program 2022?
All applications shall be submitted through the online application system of the Hungary Helps Agency. After registration, the applicants are able to access the application system and upload the required documents.
It is important to submit the applications by clicking the link “Submit”; only saved applications will not be considered. Please note that only the applications submitted online and before the deadline will be accepted. No hard copies are required.
The deadline for submitting the complete application package for the 2022-2023 scholarship cycle is:31st January 2022 (until 23:59 Central European Time).

Register and upload your documents:
You can start an application in the DreamApply system where your application will be processed and select the relevant study programme. Please check the eligible study fields. You can browse only one study programme, 1 choice is allowed. Make sure that your chosen programme is relevant to the field of your studies. Required documents may vary according to your level of study. You can find these documents in the Call for Applications 2022-2023. It is also time to get in touch with your Local Church to obtain your Letter of Recommendation.
31st January 2022
Application deadline:
Your application must be submitted by the deadline. Please make sure that all required documents are attached and all the required fields are filled out properly before submitting your application. Please read the Call for Applications 2022-2023 for the details. Once your application is completed, you must press the “Submit” icon in order to submit it.
31st January – 31st March 2022
Technical Check, approval of church recommendations, and ranking process:
The Hungary Helps Agency performs a formal check of the submitted applications. After the technical check, the Letters of Recommendations will be approved by the State Secretariat for the Aid of Persecuted Christians and for the Hungary Helps Program. Those applicants whose application has passed the technical check and whose Letter of Recommendation has been approved will be forwarded to the chosen Hungarian higher education institutions. Applicants will be informed about the status of the application.
1st April – 31st May 2022
Entrance exams at Hungarian universities:
The universities will get in touch with the applicants directly to set a date and conduct the entrance exams from the middle of March until the middle of May. Your exam scores must be a minimum of 56 out of 100 points for your application to be considered for the final list of scholarship awardees.
After 1st July 2022
Hungary Helps Agency releases the final results
After evaluating the applications and the results of the exams, Hungary Helps Agency will inform the applicants of the official results of the applications.
UNTIL 1ST OF AUGUST 2022
Successful applicants are required to accept their scholarship in the online system (if relevant, any missing documents have to be also uploaded) and start the visa application process. The students have to arrive in Hungary no later than the 30th of September
