South Asia Scholarship 2022/2023 at University of Tasmania

The South Asia Scholarship 2022 provides eligible international students commencing study in 2022 with a 15% reduction in tuition fees for the duration of their course.
This includes citizens of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan.

Eligibility

To receive the scholarship, you must be a citizen of a South Asian country and be commencing the full fee-paying study of an eligible course at the university for the first time. Fully-funded scholarships in New Zealand at the University of Otago

Eligible courses include:

  • All undergraduate or Honours coursework programs (excluding Bachelor of Nursing Hobart and Launceston; and fully online-only programs); and
  • All postgraduate coursework programs (excluding Master of Laboratory Medicine and fully online programs).

On-going Eligibility

International students on a Student Visa (subclass 500) must continue to satisfy the criteria for the grant of a visa and must maintain satisfactory attendance in your course and course progress for each study period as required by the University of Tasmania.

Study Abroad and Exchange

  • Credit/Advanced Standing for prior study

If you are a domestic student and are applying for credit for prior study, you will need to register to apply for credit (as this is separate from your course application and any existing student logins).

Undergraduate domestic applications

Learn how to apply for pre-degree courses, undergraduate bachelor’s, and double degrees.

Step 1: Find a course

You can apply for up to five courses at once. Unlike other states, there is no charge to apply as a domestic student to the University of Tasmania.

Step 2: Keep your options open

Step 3: Check the dates

Before you apply, it’s important that you check the key admission dates. These will tell you when applications open when semesters begin, and more.

Step 4: Make sure you meet the entry requirements

To be considered for entry into our courses, you need to meet specific requirements. You can check these entry requirements tab on your course page for more details.

You also need to either have completed Australian Year 12 (or equivalent), or be aged 17 or older and be applying on the basis of your previous study or work experience.

For most of our courses, entry is based on your ATAR score or your rank, which is calculated based on your qualifications and experience. If you’re unsure whether you meet the entry requirements, or if you are uncertain about your ATAR or rank, please contact our Information Centre.

Some courses have other entry requirements, like auditions, interviews, portfolios or questionnaires. Make sure you check your course information for application requirements and closing dates.

Step 5: Apply for the South Asia Scholarship 2022

You don’t need to be academically gifted to receive financial support for your study. We offer one of the most extensive ranges of scholarships in Australia, and we encourage everyone to apply.

Step 6: Check if you’re eligible for recognition for prior learning

You may be able to have your past studies or work experience count as credit towards your course. That means you won’t have to complete all of the units listed in your course structure and you may be able to graduate sooner.

You need to apply separately for credit for prior learning (advanced standing), so make sure you check the application requirements and closing dates.

Step 7: Accept your offer

Once your application has been assessed, we’ll notify you as to whether you have been accepted. If you are accepted, simply follow the instructions in the offer letter to secure your place at university.

How to Apply For the South Asia Scholarship 2022

Students are assessed automatically upon submission of their International Student Application so there is no need to apply separately. Offer letters will notify applicants if they have been awarded the scholarship.
