Undergraduate Excellence Awards
Our scholarships support high-achieving scholars worldwide who can put their Nottingham degrees to great use in their careers.
Each award covers a contribution towards tuition fees in the first year of an undergraduate degree programme at Nottingham.

If you are an international student currently studying in the UK, you should apply for the UK International Excellence Award.
Africa Undergraduate Excellence Award
We’re offering scholarships for high-achieving international students who live in Africa, covering £2,000 or £7,000 towards tuition fees in the first year of your degree course.
Eligibility
To apply for this scholarship, you must:
- be domiciled in any African country
- be classed as an ‘overseas’ student for tuition fee purposes
- hold an offer to begin any full-time undergraduate degree program at the University of Nottingham in September 2023
How to apply
You must apply for an undergraduate degree course at the University of Nottingham and receive an offer of study before you can apply for this scholarship.
Search for courses and find out how to apply through UCAS.
Once you have received your offer, you can apply for this scholarship through the scholarships section of NottinghamHub.
In your application, you will be asked about your achievements, study plans, and reasons for choosing to study with us. Make sure you have enough time to prepare firm answers. We will assess your responses and academic merit when making scholarship decisions.
If you are studying in the UK, you should apply for the UK International Undergraduate Excellence Award.
University Nottingham International Scholarships criteria
You do not need to respond to your offer from UCAS before submitting your application for this scholarship. However, awards will only be made to students who firmly accept their offer to study with us at UCAS.
Scholarships will be awarded after assessing all scholarship applications, and you may be offered a scholarship of either £2,000 or £7,000. We will contact you in early June 2023 to confirm the outcome of your application.
This award cannot be combined with another University of Nottingham regional scholarship or an International Sporting Excellence Award.
However, you may also be able to receive a subject scholarship from your academic school, a sports scholarship package, or an external scholarship from your country, where the combined total does not exceed 100% of tuition fees.
If you are awarded this scholarship, it will be deducted from the tuition fees charged to you as a student at the University of Nottingham. We will not pay tuition fee scholarships to you directly.
Europe Undergraduate Excellence Award
Eligibility
To apply for this scholarship, you must:
be domiciled in one of the European countries listed below
be classed as an ‘overseas’ student for tuition fee purposes
hold an offer to begin any full-time undergraduate degree programme at the University of Nottingham in September 2023
